Founded by MSc. Architect Hasan Basri Hamulu in 1982, Pimodek is an Istanbul-based architectural studio that carries out project design and construction processes through a holistic approach. The studio continues its architectural practice through residential, office, commercial, hospitality, restoration and urban design projects. Working across scales from architecture to interiors and urban design, Pimodek adopts a contemporary perspective that considers design as an integrated whole, aiming to provide professional contribution to each project. The studio regards architecture as a perceptual and experiential phenomenon that extends beyond physical reality.
Reflecting the more than 40 years of professional experience of its founder, MSc. Architect H. Basri Hamulu who completed his undergraduate studies at the Faculty of Architecture at Istanbul Technical University and later earned his master’s degree in “Industrialized Construction Systems” at the same institution, Pimodek is today carried forward by the second generation of the studio, architects Ömer Hamulu and Erdem Hamulu.
H. Basri Hamulu is a member of the Istanbul Association of Architects in Private Practice. He is also the curator and designer of the “Gates of Paradise Photography Exhibition”, which focuses on the crown gates of the Divriği Complex, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Since 2009, the exhibition has been presented in numerous cities both in Turkey and abroad. Having worked for many years on tourism-oriented master planning and urban conservation projects in the city of Divriği, he received the “Sign of the City” award in the Preservation of Cultural Heritage category in 2017 for one of these works, the “Divriği Republic Square Reorganization” project.
